Author(s): Doug Stowe
Drawn from the best content from two popular books Doug Stowe wrote for us in 1997 and 2000, 25 Beautiful Boxes You Can Make offers readers a selection of gorgeous projects for a variety of special uses. There are jewelry boxes and chests, boxes for pens, a wedding ring music box and other distinctive gift boxes. While the books have been out of print for several years, the projects follow classic designs and are still fresh-looking. The book also offers a number of useful sidebars on box making techniques that readers can apply to all their work. And, projects such as the triangle box, will teach readers how to work with unique shapes.
Doug Stowe is a well-respected craftsman, teacher and author. He made a number of boxes that former Arkansas governors Bill Clinton and Jim Guy Tucker presented as gifts of state when traveling to the Pacific Rim. And Doug also sells custom boxes through Etsy.com. In addition, he teaches boxmaking at several top woodworking schools, including Arrowmont, and the Marc Adams and William Ng schools, in addition to offering classes through his own studio. He is the author of 8 books and 3 videos and has written for Fine Woodworking, American Woodworker, Woodworker's Journal and Woodcraft magazines. His latest book, Beautiful Boxes: Design and Technique, will be published by Taunton Press this September.
