Wolf and Dog

Author(s): Sylvia Vanden Heede

Children - 5 to 8

Wolf and Dog are cousins. Wolf is wild and Dog is tame. Wolf lives in a forest on top of a hill. Dog doesn't. Dog has a basket. And a boss.

Wolf and dog are cousins who are similar, but oh so different: wolf is wild and dog is tame and lives in a house with a comfy basket. Their worlds are contrasted when they spend time together: dog is refined, with good manners; wolf has neither refinement nor good manners. Dog introduces Wolf to all sorts of new experiences and wolf does the same. They begin to play tricks on each other and by doing so they are recognising their similarities and also their differences. There are lively illustrations throughout this funny and pertinent story, with wolf appearing as suitably scary and dog a bit of a softy. - Sarah
